Introduced in 2003 and discontinued in 2004, the Mt. Blast set offers plenty of fun in a relatively small amount of space.

Mt. Blast includes several specialty pieces only found in this set. In addition to the crane-topped mountain and its ramps, you get a Y-track with a barrier at the end of the turn off, a T-track, a joined pair of tunnel lights, a men at work sign, and a set of 3 rock outcroppings as shown above.

The crane is one of several found in the GeoTrax world. This particular machine is one of the sturdiest. I think you could grab just about any pieces with those claws and tote it around the mountain. It seems it was intended to haul the black boulders from one place to another, especially to the bucket on the “back” side of the mountain.

The main vehicle is usually called a bulldozer in the GeoTrax world, even though it looks much like a front loader. The red car that it pulls has a load of ore. You can depress that brown cargo if you like, though I’m not sure why you would really want to. Perhaps it’s just another moving part to pretend with.

If you are looking for a complete set, be sure to check for the red gate, bucket, and dynamite plunger that attach to the mountainside. One or more of these pieces are often missing.

You can set the three brown rock outcroppings on ledges of the mountain. Then you can push the dynamite plunger down to simulate an explosion and watch the rocks slide down the mountainside.

Watch a video showing how you can play with this set.

Also look for the similar Mt. Blast set, Fisher Price product ID N8258, which was released exclusively by Kohl’s in 2008.

The bulldozer (which, as I mentioned above, actually looks more like a front loader to me) and mining car are part of the Mt. Blast Construction Co. set B3007. The front of the bulldozer moves up and down.

You can push the brown load within the mining car down within its red shell, but you can’t remove it.

The tunnel lights don’t actually light up. You have to use your imagination.
