It’s more than likely that you’ve heard of the Disney movies Cars and Cars 2. Who is the first character you think of in those movies?
Lightning McQueen, right?
Of course, you do. He’s the star. Other characters like Mater, Doc Hudson, Flo, and Ramone rank near the top of the popularity list too, and that’s probably why Fisher Price decided to included them amongst their first Cars GeoTrax sets.
That said, in a complete list of GeoTrax Cars sets, you’ll find Mater several times and even some of the more obscure vehicles included there.
The list you see here may still be incomplete.

Lightning McQueen Is the Star of the Show

The first Cars character produced for GeoTrax was quite naturally a Radiator Springs Lightning McQueen set (P6246). This first release included just a remote (not pictured) and a red car without any sponsorship decals. It was a Target store exclusive likely first available in 2009.
A complete set includes these items.
- Lightning McQueen car (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
Disney’s Mater Is Popular with Children

Tow Mater (P6247) looks kind of scruffy on purpose. He’s a clunky tow truck that always seems to get the job done. This is one of the smaller sets that was released in 2009. It consists of the items listed below.
- Tow Truck (Mater) (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
Doc Hudson Appears Only in the First Cars Movie

The GeoTrax Doc Hudson set (P6248) is similar to the first Mater set (above) in that there are only two pieces. Doc only appeared in the first Cars movie, but he was a rather significant figure there.
Both the Mater and the Doc Hudson sets have, not the latest, but a newer style remote controller. I’m not sure if Fisher Price’s designers thought this would be easier for children to handle or it they just wanted change for the sake of change. In any case, here you can see this somewhat sleek, triangular remote above.
It looks like Doc was released at about the same time as Mater in 2009.
A complete set includes the following items.
- Car (Doc Hudson) (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
Get a Special Paint Job at Ramone’s Body Art

Ramone’s Body Art (P6251) is simply a large building, the Body Shop, and a car, Ramone. It adds to the flavor of your GeoTrax sets, especially if you already have some other Cars or Cars 2items.
Ramone talks to you when you press the car body down onto the wheels. You don’t need a remote controller.
This set was released in 2009 and consists of the following pieces.
- Body Shop
- Car (Ramone) (Requires 3 ‘button’ batteries)

Have a Bite to Eat at Flo’s V8 Café

Flo’s V8 Café (P7587) is a simple but big set. The cafe reminds me of the Workin’ Roundhouse that was released four years earlier. You don’t get any track pieces with the cafe, but that might be the excuse you were looking for to pick up one of the track pack sets.
Just like Ramone, Flo talks when you press the car down onto the wheels.
This set was released in 2009 and consists of these two pieces.
- V8 Cafe
- Car (Flo) (Requires 3 ‘button’ batteries)
Ride with Sally, Ride

The Cars Track Pack with Sally set (P8459) has some nice pieces – three with switches, a cross track, and an overhead traffic light. The one problem you might notice is that there’s no way to connect them in a loop. This is pretty much the definition of an expansion set. You really must have at least one more set to make things feel complete.
Sally herself is a push car, so no remote controller is needed. It looks like this set was released in 2009. It consists of the following items.
- Car (Sally)
- Straight Track
- Cross Track
- 2 Y-Tracks (1 left, 1 right)
- Double Y-Track
- Overhead Traffic Light
Travel the Countryside with Sarge
You can assemble the Track Pack with Sarge (P8460) into a complete loop and still have one small piece left over. As you can see above, all of the track pieces are the newer dark gray (almost black) color. They are all elevation style, even though there is no need for them to be.
Sarge is a push vehicle and so does not come with a remote controller. The set does include a unique Route 66 sign though.
This set was apparently released in 2009. It includes the following items.
- Jeep (Sarge)
- Route 66 Sign
- 5 Straight Elevation Tracks (dark gray)
- 6 Curved Elevation Tracks (dark gray)
Lookout from the Mountain with the Sheriff
You get a quick trip up and down on Sheriffs Lookout Mountain (R2771). The few track pieces included are all elevation style as they should be, but the Sheriff is not a remote controlled vehicle. The track assumes you will eventually use a remote controlled vehicle from another set, which is very likely something you would do with this expansion set.
This set, released either in 2009 or 2010, comes with these items.
- Mountain
- Squad Car (Sheriff)
- Radiator Springs Sign
- 2 Elevation Ramp Pairs (dark gray)
- Curved Elevation Track (atop the mountain; dark gray)
- 2 On/Off Ramps (dark gray)
Lightning McQueen Strikes Again

Lightning McQueen (R2772) is back again looking much like he did the first time, except that he now has the Rust-eze and other sponsorship stickers plastered all over. This is the second of four appearance for McQueen in a set all by himself.
The complete set consists of the following.
- Lightning McQueen Car (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
Tool Around with Trev

The Cars Track Pack with Trev (R3125) is a combination of elevation rail track and dark gray elevation track which is commonly found in Cars sets. In fact, there is close to a 50-50 split between the two types.
You can make a loop (as shown above) with these track pieces, but you probably will be left with what seems like some dead ends (again, see above). I would for this reason still consider this an expansion set, rather than a starter set.
Trev Diesel is the same push engine that comes in the Lightning McQueen’s Close Call set. Both were released in 2009. This Trev set comes with these items.
- Engine (Trev Diesel)
- 2 Curved Elevation Rail Tracks
- 4 Straight Elevation Rail Tracks
- 2 Short Elevation Rail Tracks
- 2 Guardrails (light gray)
- 2 Straight Tracks (dark gray)
- 2 Curved Tracks (dark gray)
- Cross Track (dark gray)
- 2 Special Railroad Crossing Signs
Lightning McQueen Returns in New Colors

The Dinoco Lightning McQueen (T6206) is the third version of the race car produced in the GeoTrax world.
McQueen has the same number, 95, but a new sponsor in Dinoco, which is supposed to remind those old enough to remember of the old Sunoco or Sinclair gasoline companies. The logo for Sinclair featured a dinosaur.
He also has a new paint job. Instead of his signature red, you now see him in a baby blue.
A complete set still includes just the following.
- Lightning McQueen Car (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
Chick Hicks Makes the Scene

Light green Chick Hicks (T7158) is car number 86 and is filled with more sponsor decals than you’re likely to ever see on any other car. Well, maybe.
As with the majority of Cars GeoTrax cars, you get the two pieces which make several character-appropriate sounds.
The complete set includes these pieces.
- Chick Hicks Car (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
Speed Down the Race Track with This Pack

In the Cars Road Race Track Pack (V9957), released in 2011, you get a stretch of dark gray track that really needs track from one or more other sets to be useful. Notice that you don’t get any curved track pieces. But you probably already own such track, if you’re looking at this set.
The yellow car included is Jeff Gorvette, a mashup of Jeff Gordon and a corvette. He is a push car; there is no remote controller.
A complete set includes these items.
- Car (Jeff Gorvette)
- 6 Straight Elevation Tracks (dark gray)
- 2 Elevation Switch Tracks (1 left, 1 right; dark gray)
- 3 Track Controllers / Dividers (light gray)
- 3 Street Lights
- 4 Flags
- 2 Barrel Pairs
Take It Easy around Those Dirt Race Track Curves

The Dirt Race Track Pack (V9958) has more curves but is very similar to the Road Race set above in most other ways. You get a dark brown (i.e. dirt brown) stretch of track that doesn’t go anywhere. It has switches, track dividers, lights, flags, and a push car. The white car character is Shu Todoroki.
This set was touted as the first to feature side-by-side racing, but you could easily argue that the Road Race Track Pack (above) deserves that honor, or that they should share it.
The complete set, released in 2011, includes the following.
- Car (Shu Todoroki)
- 2 Elevation Switch Tracks (1 left, 1 right; dark brown)
- 2 Long Curved Elevation Tracks (dark brown)
- 2 Curved Elevation Tracks (dark brown)
- 2 Track Controllers / Dividers (light gray)
- 2 Street Lights
- 4 Flags
A Crossover Track Makes for Exciting Racing

The Cars Crossover set (V9959) introduces an interesting element into racing your GeoTrax cars. Now there’s the possibility of passing another racer as well as crashing into them.
It’s not hard to find a youngster who likes to make cars crash!
This set may be a little harder to find. It seems it was a Toys R Us exclusive that was also available at the Fisher-Price online store.
This is the only set, as far as I know, in which you can get the push car called Max Schnell.
A complete set includes these pieces.
- World Grand Prix Finish Line Barrier
- 3 Straight Tracks
- 3 Street Lights
- Crossover Track
- 2 Switch Tracks (1 left, 1 right)
- Car (Max Schnell)
- 2 Flags (not pictured)
- 4 Barrels (2 pair on a holder)
Escape from Big Bentley as Fast as You Can
Escape from Big Bentley (V9961) features a clock tower (a la Big Ben in London) with a special mechanism inside. When a vehicle enters on the main track from the proper direction, any vehicle (such as Sally) that is positioned in the upper section of the tower is released onto the main track. If the first vehicle enters from the other direction, nothing happens.
Note that in the picture above, the light blue top of the tower is not fully inserted into the yellow base. Also, Sally’s eyes (on the windshield) were scratched off by her former owner.
This set was released in 2011 and contains the following.
- Car (Holley Shiftwell)
- Clock Tower (Big Bentley)
- 2 Elevation Track Pairs (dark gray)
Drive Safely under the Eiffel Tire Crash Site

The Eiffel Tire Crash Site (V9962) features the tall French monument, the Eiffel Tower, and two push cars – Finn McMissile and Tomber the Informant. You can see Tomber crashing through the red and white gate above.
A complete set includes these pieces.
- Eiffel Tower
- Tomber the Informant Car
- Finn McMissile Car
Lightning McQueen Now Almost as Fast as Lightning

The Lightning McQueen Turbo Set (V9964) finally gets you up to speed. The McQueen car is virtually the same as the previous release, but the remote controller comes in the latest style and provides much more power for speed. You can also make the car move in reverse.
This edition, released in 2011, is the fourth and final set to feature just Lightning McQueen.
A complete set includes the following items.
- Lightning McQueen Car (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Turbo Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
Sneak Around with Spy Mater

The Spy Mater set (V9965) is another turbo styled remote and car combination, similar to the McQueen set just above. The tow truck itself looks much like the original Mater, with the addition of silver boosters on the back. The remote controller allows you to move in both forward and reverse directions.
A complete set is the following.
- Tow Truck (Mater) (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Turbo Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
Follow Formula 1 Racer Francesco into the Fray

Francesco Bernoulli (V9968) is an Italian racer decked out in the colors of the Italian flag. His number 1 corresponds to the high opinion he has of himself.
This is another turbo car that you can move in reverse as well as forward gear.
Released in 2011, this set includes the following.
- Francesco Car (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Turbo Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
Follow Acer and Holley Shiftwell around Radiator Springs

Acer and Holley Shiftwell (W0262) comprise a small set made of just these two cars. Holley is the same car found in the Escape from Big Bentley set. Acer the Pacer is the same vehicle found in the World Grand Prix set.
Acer is the pace car in the World Grand Prix. That is one reason he is called the Pacer. Some of you are too young to remember the other reason. Years ago in the 1970s, a now defunct car maker called AMC (American Motors Corporation) made a vehicle called the Pacer which Acer strongly resembles. It was known for its fishbowl look because it had a lot of glass in its windows. If you get your hands on Acer, take a look at his license plate.
This set was released in 2011 and consists of just these two vehicles.
- Acer the Pacer
- Holley Shiftwell
Who Is Petrov Trunkov?

The Petrov Trunkov and Finn McMissile set (W0263) poses an interesting question: Just who is this Petrov Trunkov character? Apparently Trunkov is never really seen in the movies. Some seem to think he was replace by Grem. In the GeoTrax world and elsewhere, it looks like he was in production before anyone knew that he wouldn’t actually make an appearance on screen. It probably wasn’t worth the effort to keep him from the public, so we have him here today in all his light green glory.
A complete set consists of these two push cars.
- Finn McMissile Car
- Petrov Trunkov Car
