Within the GeoTrax world, bad things sometimes happen. At least, you have to imagine that they do. When they do, you need help. The designers of GeoTrax sets apparently anticipated all this and created many, many vehicles and buildings with a rescue theme.
Below you will find virtually all of these rescue sets. The main items you’ll discover over and over again are fire engines, helicopters, police cars, and ambulances. You’ll also see several fire stations and a rescue tower.

Get to the Fire First with the Fast Response Rescue Company

The Fast Response Rescue Co. set (B3253) was one of the first produced in 2003 that really begged to be treated as an expansion. True, it does have a building (the Fire Station), 2 vehicles, and 3 pieces of track, but you obviously can’t travel very far down the road before hitting the carpet or the floor. And what good is a fire station unless you have something else that could catch fire?
When you turn the handle for the fire hose on the right side of the station, the main door spins open so you can drive the engine inside and out the back. There’s not much track back there, so you might want to look into getting a set like the Road Track Pack to go with it.
Watch a video showing how this set works. It’s the third one in the first playlist.
This set was discontinued in 2004. The fire truck and tanker trailer pictured here are the originals that came with this set. If you are looking for correctness and completeness when making a purchase, be sure to examine these items closely.
See M3238 for a similar set. Two of the chief differences in the Fire Station are that the siren on top of the building is red in B3253 but blue in M3238, and the door in B3253 is mostly white whereas it is mostly yellow in M3238.
A complete Fast Response Rescue Co. set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Fire Station
- T-Track
- 2 On/Off Ramps (Road style)
- Fire Truck
- Tank Trailer
- Fire Truck Sign

Fly the Whirly Bird Rescue from the Scene to the Hospital

The Whirly Bird Rescue expansion set (B4347) is the first GeoTrax set to get you off the ground. You can spin the blue dial on the landing pad or on the side of the helicopter to rotate the chopper’s blades.
Both the landing pad and the hospital sign attach to pieces of track (sold separately) via the small tab sticking out the side. See how this works. It’s the first video in the second playlist.
There are many other GeoTrax sets that this one works well with. The helicopter can land on top of any building with a flat roof. There are also other sets with landing pads similar to the one found in this set.
One unexpected thing about GeoTrax sets is that there really is no hospital to go with the many rescue sets. Maybe everyone that gets rescued is still in good enough health that a hospital isn’t needed.
This set was released in 2003 and discontinued in 2007.
A complete Whirly Bird Rescue set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Helicopter
- Landing Pad
- Hospital Sign

If Fast Wasn’t Fast Enough, Rapid Rescue Fire Squad Will Make It In Time

First produced in 2003, the Rapid Rescue Fire Squad is similar to the Fast Response Rescue Co. in that both include fire engines. However, this set is remote controlled but does not have a building. Thus it’s probably worth owning both of them. After all, most cities do have more than one fire engine.
The remote controller in this set is another one that you can insert into the depot that comes in the Tracktown Railway set. That’s how you get to hear the sounds that this set makes.
Listen to the Squad. It’s the fourth video in the second playlist.
This set was in production through 2007 and is very similar to H8098 (below) which came out in 2005.
A complete Rapid Rescue Fire Squad set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Fire Engine (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Pumper Car
- Cargo Car
- Straight Road Track
- 2 On/Off Ramps (Road style)
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)

Get Help in the Dark with Search Light Rescue

Be the police and turn on your search light to help out in the dark. Note that the light does not actually shine, but you can spin it around. Watch it spin. It’s in the third video in the third playlist.
This nifty little Search Light set (C6856) was released in 2004 and discontinued in 2007. It was re-released in different colors (most of the light blue was replaced with black) in 2006 as part of set K3014.
A complete set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Police Car
- Search Light Car

The GeoTrax Rescue Pack – For When You’re Really in Trouble

Pictured above is the best shot I could find of this set (G8839) in its original packaging. This rescue combo pack includes the following.
- B3253 Fast Response Rescue Co.
- B4337 Road Track Pack
- B5295 Rapid Rescue Fire Squad
Rescue Accessory Pack
I have no information about the Rescue Accessory Pack (H1640) other than the fact that it did once exist. If you know anything more about it, please use the Contact page to let me know.
Need Help at Sea? Call on the Coastal Rescue Chopper

One of several helicopters in the GeoTrax world, the Coastal Rescue Chopper (H6373) comes with a landing pad and helicopter over water sign. The helicopter’s blades spin when you move the orange gear on the side of the chopper.
The Rescue Chopper crosses over between sets that follow the rescue theme and those that fit in the sea category. If your layout currently leans toward one or the other of those ideas, this would make a good segue into the start of a new part of your collection.
This set was released in 2005 and discontinued in 2007.
A complete set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Helicopter
- Landing Pad
- Helicopter Sign

A New Fire Squad – Same, Yet Different

You get a little less track with this release of the Rapid Rescue Fire Squad (H8098), but you don’t have to slot the remote controller into the Tracktown Railway Depot to hear the sirens and other sounds. This remote produces the sound all by itself. By the way, this is true of all five re-released (in 2007) sets from H8097 through H8101.
The second release is comprised of these pieces. See the first release above for buttons to check the online prices of both sets.
- Fire Truck (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Hose Car
- Dump Car
- Straight Road Track
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
When There’s a Fire, It’s the Beamtown Fire Station to the Rescue

This is the first of 3 sets (or 4, depending on what you count) containing a variation of the Beamtown Fire Station. Besides the product ID J8991 on the bottom, you can look for the firemen in the upper window, the silver center circle with the red flame, and the gas pump on the side that is colored yellow, green, and white to help you identify this particular set.
The front door of the station moves up and down when you turn the red crank. The station also lights up and makes appropriate sounds as the door moves.
GeoTrax set J8991 was released in 2006. See sets K9443 and L5896 (and possibly T0830) for the other releases.
A complete set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Fire Station (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Fire Truck
- Special Turn-off Track (City style)

Send Your Police Car to the Scene Flashin’ Fast

This police car makes realistic sounds all on its own – no remote controller required. Just press the red light on the roof to hear various police-related sounds. This small Flashin’ Fast Police Car set (K0402) was apparently released in 2006.
A complete set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Police Car (Requires 1 AAA battery)
- Stop Sign
Take the Bright Beams Ambulance to the Hospital

One of the smaller rescue sets, the Bright Beams Ambulance (K0404) still gives you authentic sounds in its little package. Just press the red button on top to set it off.
Maybe the curvy road ahead sign was included as a reminder that you should be careful when driving so fast in your rescue vehicle. Even an ambulance driver needs to slow down when there are curves ahead. And virtually all GeoTrax layouts include curves in one place or another. It’s just too bad that there’s no GeoTrax hospital to drive to.
I guess it’s another instance for using your imagination. I’m not certain of the release date, but it is likely 2006.
A complete set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Ambulance (Requires 1 AAA battery)
- Curvy Road Sign
Toys R Us Re-Releases the Beamtown Fire Station

In 2008, Toys R Us re-released the Beamtown Fire Station in slightly changed colors. The most obvious difference between this set and J8991 is that the station walls and gas pump are maroon. Also, the center warning light is all red, and the upper window retains the latticework but does not show any firemen.
The fire engine is different as well, and the special track piece was replaced with a neat little fireman figure. To let the engine inside the building, turn the crank on the side of the station.
This set is virtually identical to another Toys R Us release, T0830, which they apparently produced in 2009. The only difference seems to be the product ID and related information on the underside of the station.
A complete set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Fire Station (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Fire Engine / Truck
- Fireman
If you look closely at the information stamped into the underside of the station, you can see that this release says, “J8991 / L5896”.

Call On Smokey and Jose to Help Put That Fire Out

Jose is a fireman but not the same one you’ll find in some of the Beamtown Fire Station sets. This seems unusual because Smokey, his fire engine, sports the number 57 which is on all the Beamtown fire stations. Apparently the two sets are intended to be related.
This fire engine set (L5911) was released in 2007. It is one of the many team sets and includes a remote controller. The pumper car in which Jose can sit spins so you can fight the fire from any direction.
A complete set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Fire Engine (Smokey) (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Pumper Car
- Hose Car
- Fireman (Jose)
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)

You’re in Good Hands, Patient, in an Ambulance with Stat and Stewart

This team set, Ambulance with Stat and Stewart the Most Helpful Team, is a little confusing. I think that Stat is the Ambulance and Stewart is the driver. If not, it doesn’t make much sense to call them the most helpful team. If the team consisted of the two people, one of them wouldn’t be very helpful, since he’s a patient and has his arm in a sling!
I have found the ambulance with both blue (lavender) trim and red (carmine) trim. The blue vehicle has orange and blue checked decals. The red one has blue (lavender) and yellow. Both are stamped with the Fisher Price product ID L6374 on the bottom. The blue one was actually part of the Fire Rescue Station set (see N8343 below, a Kohl’s exclusive) from 2008.
This set was released in 2007.
A complete set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Stat the Ambulance (Requires 1 AAA battery)
- Stewart the Driver / Medic
- Patient with Broken Arm

Marshall and Cap the Most Trusted Team Catch the Criminal

This police team set is one of several that give rise to some ambiguity. The team, being the most trusted, cannot include the minifig who is obviously a criminal based on his attire. So the team must be the SUV and the policeman.
It’s actually normal for the vehicle to be part of the team in the GeoTrax world. The question is this: Who is who?
I had to ask Fisher Price about this. The official word is that the SUV is Marshall, and the officer is Cap. In addition, the criminal also has a name – Butch.
You can press the light on top of Marshall to activate the sounds it can make.
This set (L6376) includes everything shown in the picture. See also set P8966 below.
- Police SUV (Marshall) (Requires 1 AAA battery)
- Policeman (Cap)
- Criminal (Butch)

What’s All the Excitement at the Siren Sounds Rescue Tower?

Gather all your rescue vehicles – fire trucks, ambulances, helicopters – at the Rescue Tower for some fast action and rescue practice.
This tower set (M3234) has a helipad on top for the choppers to land on. You can use elevation track to access the upper levels of the tower to activate the various sounds it can produce. You can press a button or drive through the tower at either level to set off the sounds built into the tower.
This set, which includes only the tower itself, was apparently released in 2007. It requires 3 AAA batteries to make its sounds.

Fire Rescue Station Combines Water and Ambulance Support

The Fire Rescue Station set (N8343) is a reworking of the Fast Response Rescue Fire Station (B3253) and the Stat and Stewart ambulance set.
Note that there is no fire truck with this set.
The fire station itself comes in changed colors compared to the original. Personally, I like the green and gold tones.
For some strange reason, the physical station does not match the picture on the original packaging. For example, the flag on the roof is on the other side, and the hose on the box is gold instead of green. The green water tank at the left rear of the station is removable. You can attach it to a tanker car like the one that comes with the Fast Response set.
A complete set includes these pieces.
- Fire Station
- Water Tank
- Fire Truck Sign
- Special Cross Track
- On/Off Road Ramp
- Ambulance
- Ambulance Driver
- Ambulance Patient
Marshall and Cap Are Now the Most Trusted Team

Marshall, the SUV, and Cap, the policeman, are still chasing Butch, the criminal, but this time he has a shiny, new sports car to help with his getaway.
The sounds in set P8966 still come from pressing the button on top of the SUV just as they did in the original set L6376 (above). The car doesn’t make any noise on its own; you have to provide the screeches and squeals yourself.
This set was released in 2009 and comes with the four items shown above and listed below.
- Police SUV (Marshall) (Requires 1 AAA battery)
- Policeman (Cap)
- Sports Car
- Criminal (Butch)
The Bridge and Helicopter Set Gets You off the Ground

Bridge and Helicopter (set R9938, which was a Toys R Us exclusive) is another combination of previously released sets. In this case, the suspension bridge (L5893) mixes with Chopper and Aiden (P8967).
It seems that the ambulance patient from the Stat and Stewart set is in trouble again. He must need to be rescued by helicopter (Chopper) which the pilot (Aiden) brings to the scene. He’s either had an accident on the bridge or in the water below.
You can use the patient lift to pull him up to the safety of the helicopter. (Note that there is no string to connect the two, but you could easily supply that on your own.)
I’m not sure where you would use the helicopter sign within this set. You probably have other track pieces you could attach it to. Even so, I don’t understand its purpose.
The complete Bridge and Helicopter set includes the following.
- Suspension Bridge
- Helicopter (Chopper)
- Pilot (Aiden)
- Patient
- Patient Lift
- Helicopter Sign
Toys R Us Re-Re-Releases the (Beamtown) Fire Station
For some unknown reason, Toys R Us released, yet again, this fire station, apparently in 2009. It is virtually identical to set L5896. The same fire engine and fireman are included. The paint scheme and building design are the same. The lack of a siren atop the roof matches.
The only small difference, which you can see below, is the product ID and related information stamped into the underside of the station. A difference which you cannot see here is that the original box for L5896 calls this the Beamtown Fire Station, whereas the box for T0830 calls this simply a Fire Station.
A complete set consists of the following items.
- Fire Station (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Fire Engine
- Fireman
Notice that the product ID below says, “J8991 / L5896 / T0830″. This means that at least this one section of this fire station came from a new mold.
