Links in this post may take you to Ebay or Amazon. If you click one and buy something there, I’ll get a small amount of money in return.
Once in a while, all you want is another vehicle – a train, a car, a truck, a ship – to play with. Fortunately, there are many GeoTrax sets that give you just what you’re looking for.
Some of the smaller sets have just a vehicle and either a couple of pieces of track, or a little building, or a few cubes to play with. They may or may not include a remote controller.
And that’s okay, because when you buy an expansion set, you shouldn’t be looking for much more than that. At this point, you already have one or more starter sets and just need a little something extra to add to the fun.
Listed here are several expansion sets that feature one or more vehicles of some type. You can find the possible cost of each by clicking a link that is below it.

Ride in Comfort across Town on the Crosstown Express Line

The GeoTrax Crosstown Express Lines set (B4335) was the first of many tiny sets to consist of some vehicles and perhaps a remote controller and a few pieces of track. It was first produced in 2003 and was discontinued in 2004.
If you own the Tracktown Railway set, you can insert this remote controller into the depot for even more exciting sounds and effects. Check out the starter sets for more information.
Watch a video of the Express in action. It’s the fourth one in the first playlist.
The complete Crosstown Express Lines set includes the items listed below.
- Express Engine (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- 2 Passenger Cars
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Straight Rail Track
- 2 On/Off Ramps (Rail style)

The Express is a passenger, as opposed to a cargo, train. Note that the two passenger cars are slightly different from each other.

Carry Your Cargo with Freightway Transport

The original Freightway Transport (B4343) vehicles, introduced in 2003, were colored mostly in green. The light and dark blue variation comes in a Toys R Us exclusive Special Edition Vehicle Pack (K3014) issued in 2006. Other than this paint color difference, the cars are identical.
This set is probably one of the simplest and most commonly found GeoTrax sets. That said, your child can still have a lot of fun with it when you add it to the rest of your collection or even to just one starter set.
Both engines are stamped B4343/C1857 on the bottom. Set C1857 is Cross Valley Junction.

A complete Freightway Transport expansion set includes the following items.
- Engine / Truck
- Cargo Car
- Crate

Got Car Troubles? Call Lift ‘n Go Towing

With Lift ‘n Go Towing (B4345), released in 2003, you get a yellow, convertible car (in fine shape) that you can tow from place to place. While jacking up the car onto your tow truck, you can set out the pair of orange cones to warn others to slow down and be extra careful while in the area. Note that the cones piece is just wide enough to fit under a piece of track.
In a way, it’s unfortunate that the car has no visible damage. Then again, you can play with the car all by itself, so you probably want one in good shape. It doesn’t always have to ride on the hook of the tow truck.
This expansion set was discontinued in 2007. You can find a variation in set K3014 where the tow truck is blue and the sports car is red.
A complete set includes the following pieces.
- Tow Truck
- Sports Car
- Orange Cones

Ride Down the Coast on the Pacific Chief
As of this writing, I don’t have a picture of the first release of the Pacific Chief – Fisher Price product ID C5792. Set H8100, the second release of the Pacific Chief is very similar, but it’s probably not identical. For example, there may be a difference in the Remote Controller.
It seems that this is one of the more difficult sets to find. More information about the first release will be posted here when it is available.
See the Countryside on the Highland Scenic Lines

Ride in comfort on the Highland Scenic Lines (C6442). Sit in the luxurious seats of the Passenger Car or have a scrumptious meal in the Dining Car.
You don’t get much track in this set, thus it is considered an expansion set. But it still is a handsome looking train. It’s nice that there are so many (clear plastic) windows so you can easily see inside the passenger and dining cars.
Hear the sounds the remote makes when you plug it into a Depot. It’s the second video in the third playlist.
A complete Highland Scenic Lines set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Train Engine (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Passenger Car
- Dining Car
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Straight Elevation Track
- 2 On/Off Ramps (Elevation style)
Set C6442 First Release vs Set H8099 Second Release
Fisher Price first produced the Highland Scenic Lines set (C6442) in 2004. It consisted of an engine with remote controller, a passenger car, a dining car, and 3 pieces of elevation track.
In 2005, it released the set (H8099) again with a few differences that might at first not be noticeable. Note that the original set was not discontinued until 2006. The re-release was available until 2007.
The main difference in set composition is that H8099 only came with one piece of straight elevation track. The on/off ramps were no longer included.
There are 6 other differences in actual design. Note especially point #4 below. Differences like these apply to these other sets as well.
- B5294 / H8097
- B5295 / H8098
- C5792 / H8100
- G5546 / H8101
1) The circle near the top of the remote controller has a fancier design in the H8099 set, as shown below.

2) The production date is displayed on the base of each remote controller. It is underlined in red in the individual RC pictures below but still may be difficult to read.

3) The stickers, or labels, provided for the top of the controllers are different.

4) The C6442 controller has electrical contacts at the front of the base, whereas the H8099 controller does not. Thus you can use the C6442 controller in the Depot that comes in set B1836 Tracktown Railway.

5) The set number is stamped on the bottom of each engine. Again, it is underlined in red in the individual engine pictures.

6) A final difference is one you can also see in the pictures immediately above. The rear wheels of the C6442 engine have a gray band of rubber around them whereas the H8099 engine’s wheels have black.

Take a Ride on the Bus with Highview Tours

Grab a seat atop the double decker bus and let Highview Tours show you around the town in style. Be sure to stop at the bus stop sign and at the toll gate to pay what you owe.
The Highview Tours set (C6853), first released in 2004, is a small but interesting group. The bus can ride on the roads and the rails just like any other GeoTrax vehicle.
At first, you might not think this set fits very well with other GeoTrax sets, but it really does. There is a Big City Lights Center which also has a bus, so this set would work well in concert with that one. Remember too that there is much more to GeoTrax than rail tracks. There are plenty of road tracks and city tracks that the Highview bus can travel on.
Check it out in a short video. It’s part of the third one in the third playlist.
A complete Highview Tours set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Double Decker Bus
- Toll Gate Booth
- Bus Stop Sign
Make It through the Winter with Pile High Plowing

Too much snow for you to drive through? Use the Pile High Plowing (C6857) snow plow to get it out of your way. Then chug on through to your destination. Trains and other vehicles will appreciate your work.
Too much snow to push? Drive over the top with your snowmobile. Either way, you’re good to go.
With a little imagination, you could add something light and fluffy to simulate snow drifts that need plowing. These vehicles are sturdy enough to withstand just about anything you throw at them, so a little “snow” shouldn’t hurt their inner workings.
The plow and snowmobile, which you can remove from the main car (see picture below), were released in 2004 and discontinued in 2007. They were re-released in different colors in 2006 as part of set K3014.
See how the Plow works. It’s part of the third video in the third playlist.
A complete set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Snow Plow
- Snowmobile (on car)

The Highland Scenic Lines Comes Around Again

This is the second release (2005) of the Highland Scenic Lines set (H8099). See the original set C6442 above for a detailed comparison of these two sets.
A complete set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Engine (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Passenger Car
- Dining Car
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Straight Elevation Track
Freightway Transport’s Second Release Had a Sad Ending

In 2005, Fisher Price re-released the Freightway Transport set (H5705) in bright red and white colors. You can distinguish this set from the recalled one mentioned below by the color of its ladders. The H5705 set has silver ladders as shown above; the recalled set has yellow ladders and date codes between 212-6CK through 325-6CK or 001-7CK through 232-7CK.
This train also appears in the K3013 Special Track Pack and possibly the J3930 Bayshore Drawbridge Play Pack. Unfortunately, it was later discovered that some of the paint included lead, and so it was subsequently recalled in 2007.
By that time, any number of these trains had made it into consumers’ hands. I have no idea how many of these trains were actually returned following the recall. I’m sure some were simply disposed of before they could do any harm.
It is technically illegal to resell a recalled item like this. If you own one (with yellow ladders), please get rid of it properly.
This set also came with a cargo crate which is not shown above. A complete set consisted of the following items.
- Train Engine
- Cargo Car
- Cargo Crate
Take Another Trip Down the Coast on the Pacific Chief

You can pack your luggage into the luggage car, settle back into your seat in the passenger car, and let this reincarnation of the Pacific Chief (H8100) take you for a ride.
The button on top of the luggage car slides back and forth of open and close the car’s doors.
This version of the Pacific Chief was released in 2005 and discontinued in 2007. See set C5792 for the first release.
A complete set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Train Engine (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Passenger Car
- Luggage Car
- Straight Rail Track
- 2 On.Off Ramps (Rail style)
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)

Need to Get around Town Fast? Take the Big City RapidRail

Admittedly, there’s not much to this set other than the remote controller. The Big City RapidRail (J9525) is pretty much the Crosstown Express Lines with a new coat of yellow paint. Still, it adds to the fun of your GeoTrax world.
This set was released in 2006 and discontinued in 2007.
A complete set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Bullet Train Engine (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- 2 Passenger Cars
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
Make the Streets Sparkle and Be Clean

The Sparkle ‘n Clean Garbage Truck (K0403) is a simple little set that comes with the two neat items shown above. The truck makes typical garbage truck sounds, and you can move the loader up and down manually. A unique sign that discourages polluting is also included.
This set was released in 2006 and consists of these items.
- Garbage Truck (Requires 1 AAA battery)
- Waste Sign
Tiny Vehicle Pack Sets Get a New Coat of Paint

All of the vehicles in this Special Edition Vehicle Pack (K3014) were released earlier in different colors.
At roughly the same time, these sets came first. Freightway Transport (B4343), Big Rig Trucking (B4344), and Lift ‘n Go Towing (B4345). Here they are as found in this Vehicle Pack.

Next came the Steamline Station engine (C6852), Search Light Rescue (C6856), Pile High Plowing (C6857), and Deep Digs Crew (C6858). Note that the Steamline Station engine (immediately below) comes with a yellow cargo car that was not found (even in a different color) in the original set.

Finally there was the new Ocean Cargo Transport.

A complete Special Edition Vehicle Pack then contains these parts.
- Freightway Transport engine
- Freightway Transport cargo car
- Big Rig Trucking cab
- Big Rig Trucking cargo car (no front wheels)
- Lift ‘n Go Towing tow truck
- Lift ‘n Go Towing disabled car
- Steamline Station engine
- (Steamline Station) cargo car
- Search Light Rescue police car
- Search Light Rescue search light carrier
- Pile High Plowing snow plow
- Pile High Plowing snowmobile carrier and snowmobile
- Deep Digs Drew digger
- Deep Digs Crew generator car
- Ocean Cargo Transport barge
- 3 Ocean Cargo Transport cargo crates
Take a St. Patrick’s Day Trip on the Clover Express

The Clover Express (K3115) is one of a very few extremely shiny sets made mostly in chrome and metallic green. It was a Toys R Us exclusive released in 2006 (discontinued in 2008).
The train itself is patterned after the Pacific Chief sets (C5792 and H8100). Those sets also have a baggage car with sliding door.
This is probably my favorite train-only set in all of the GeoTrax world. Notice that it’s the one used in the banner logo at the top of these pages.
A complete set consists of the following items which are all shown in the picture.
- Engine (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Passenger Car
- Baggage Car
- Railroad Crossing Sign
- Crossing Gate
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)

Get Out of Town in the Dark on the Midnight Flier

The sleek and shiny Special Edition Midnight Flier (K3116, a Toys R Us exclusive) is the same train as the Highland Scenic Lines (above) design-wise. You might not notice that at first with all the chrome flashing in your eyes. Even the traffic light and the stop sign are encased in chrome.
This set was released in 2006 and was discontinued in 2008.
The Midnight Flier includes everything you see in the photo.
- Train Engine (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Passenger Car
- Dining Car
- Remote Controller (Requires 3 AAA batteries)
- Stop Sign
- Traffic Light
Give the Gift of GeoTrax

This is like getting (or giving) 4 sets in one. The Vehicle Gift Set (M6459) is made of several fun push vehicles.Note that Opie is not shown with his Woohoo engine in the picture above.A complete set includes these pieces.
- Sally with Chatty and Chirpy (upper left)
- Woohoo and Opie (upper right)
- Screech and Skip (lower left)
