The Batman portion of the Super Friends franchise features heavily among Fisher Price Trio sets. Some sets spotlight Batman alone while other include Robin or one of their arch enemies – the Joker, the Riddler, Mr. Freeze, the Penguin, Clayface, and Killer Croc (aka K. Croc).
Several of these sets contain as few as 5 pieces, but the Batcave set has over 100. The Batcave Super Mega Set, which include the Batcave set itself, holds even more.
What Was the First Trio Batman Set? Answer: The Batwing

It’s a little surprising that the Batwing (T3818) is the first Batman set that Fisher Price chose to design. The Batwing isn’t used very often in any of the Batman series or movies.
A complete set comes with a Batman character who can fly the Batwing.
The instructions show 3 alternate ways to construct the craft. They all use most of the pieces.
Here are the 34 pieces included in the Batwing set.
- 4 Black size 1 angle half bricks
- 4 Black size 1 angle bricks
- 1 Blue size 1 brick
- 1 Blue double angle brick
- 2 Blue and white size 1 guns or headlights

- 1 Black batwing cabin
- 1 Batman
- 1 Instruction booklet
Have You Ever Heard of the Trio Joker-Bot?

I believe the Joker-Bot (T3819) is a design unique to Trio toys. The set shown above doesn’t have quite all the pieces, but you can see a completed robot with the Joker figure inside.
The instructions show 3 additional vehicles which all look like they should fly. You could call one of them the Joke-Copter.
You get these 60 pieces in a complete Joker-Bot set.

Trio Batcave – Crown Jewel of the Batman Series

The Batcave (T3832) is a large set (108 pieces) that would keep anyone occupied for a long time. The Batmobile with the Batman figure is awesome. The panels on the Batcave even picture Robin who is often forgotten.
The front “door” of the cave swings open and shut. The red cord reminds me of the rope Batman would use in the original series to climb tall buildings. Today people would probably be more likely to think of a zip-line. On the back side is an oval (you can sort of see it in the picture) that has the Bat symbol on it.
Here are the 108 pieces you get in this set.
- 24 Blue size 1 bricks
- 8 Blue size 2 bricks
- 5 Blue size 3 bricks
- 10 Blue size 4 bricks

- 4 Gray picture panels
- 1 Bat computer panel
- 2 Small red stairways
- 1 Large red stairway
- 1 Batman
- 1 Bat signal panel
- 2 Large black roof panels
- 1 Batmobile (chassis and body)
- 1 Black batcave entrance
- 1 Instruction booklet
How To Handle the Trio Mr. Freeze

The Mr. Freeze set (T4446) only has 6 pieces; unfortunately just 5 of them are in the picture above. This set is missing the freeze gun that goes atop his car.
Mr. Freeze himself is kinda cute though, isn’t he?
Here’s the short list of pieces in this set.
- 1 Blue size 1 angle brick
- 1 Blue size 1 swivel brick
- 1 Blue hose nozzle
- 1 Mr. Freeze
- 1 Light blue ice sled cabin
- 1 Blue ice sled chassis
- 1 Instruction leaflet
Stay Away from The Trio Penguin Umbrella – If You Can

The Trio Penguin set (T4447) includes an Umbrella Cannon that actually shoots a cute little penguin projectile. When you pull the small, orange trigger on top of the cannon, the penguin missile shoots out an amazingly long distance.
You can remove the Penguin figure from the apparatus. His arms move up and down as do those on all Trio figures. (The legs, unlike LEGO figures, do not move though.)
A list of the 10 pieces in this set follows.
- 4 Bluish gray size 1 bricks
- 2 White size 3 straight sticks
- 1 Light blue base
- 1 Orange and purple umbrella launcher
- 1 Silver, black, and orange penguin projectile
- 1 Penguin figure
- 1 Instruction booklet
Trio Batman, Robin, the Riddler, and the Joker Parts
The two sets shown here (V4234 Batman and the Riddler; V4235 Robin and the Joker) are actually from the Batcave Super Mega Set (below). They’re small sets, but since they have two small figures in each, they’re really fun to play with.

Here are the parts in set V4234 Batman and the Riddler.
- 1 Gray size 1 brick
- 1 Green size 1 brick
- 1 Batman
- 1 Riddler
- 1 Bat signal
- 1 Instruction leaflet

This is the parts list for V4235 Robin and the Joker.
- 1 Purple size 1 brick
- 1 Red size 1 brick
- 1 Robin figure
- 1 Joker
- 1 Yellow grappling hook with cable loop
- 1 Instruction leaflet
Trio Robin and Jet – Robin All Alone!

It’s not often you see Robin without Batman. After all, he’s only the sidekick.
I’m not sure that Robin ever had his own jet either, but he certainly does in this Trio set. It seems the Fisher Price designers were feeling especially creative one day.
And here is the list for the slightly larger V4236 Robin and Jet.
- 1 Red size 2 brick
- 2 Gray size 4 bricks
- 1 Gray size 3 brick
- 1 Gray double angled brick
- 1 Red and yellow jet cabin
- 1 Robin figure
- 1 Gray size 3 stick
- 1 Gray size 6 double bent stick
- 3 Yellow triangular panels
- 3 Green triangular panels
- 1 Instruction leaflet
Batcave Super Mega Set for the Win!

This set (W0140) is simply a combination of the 8 sets above, plus the Superman and Space Sled set which I’ve elected to place on the DC Super Friends page because it doesn’t include Batman or Robin.
This set appears to have been only offered online as a Toys R Us exclusive in 2010 and 2011.
Since I generally only post pictures of items that I’ve held in my own hands, I have none to show you of the remaining four sets in the Batman franchise. Hopefully this will change soon, so you can see for yourself right here what each of these looks like.
I’ll still tell you what is included in each set, and you can look them up on your own if you need to see pictures.
Trio Joker’s Laugh Lab Lets You Inside the Criminal’s Hideout
